We are an independent voluntary organization that is grant-aided by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP).

Will Pension Credit Help The Aged?

Pension credit help can benefit millions of pensioners on modest incomes today apart from complementing the long-term reforms with rewards for savings. The advice is loud and clear: save all you can afford to, as saving always pays. Right to Bare Legs The objective of pension credit help agencies is to not only end pensioner poverty but ensure sharing among all pensioners, the growing prosperity of the nation. Should the proposals of last week be implemented, the state pensions system is poised Xtreme NO for change beyond recognition.

Ministers and credit help agencies outlined measures to improve living standards for many pensioners. However the package being aggravatingly complex is sure to baffle many of its beneficiaries. Then credit help companies can help. A lot of the success of the new system will depend on pensioners claiming credit help and understanding what they stand to gain with the new system.

The government has promised a new dedicated pensions office for a key element of the new system, as well as automatic calculations for pensioners on retirement.

However a credit help counselor for Help the iRenew Bracelet Aged feels that with the ongoing confusion over pension calculations, computers are unreliable and an assurance is required that the infrastructure will deliver.

A credit help counselor explains that pensions remain at the mercy of political whims and economic circumstances. Magic Mesh The announcements last week bear implications for both credit help counselors and pensioners.

Due to the changes the basic state pension, a non-means-tested benefit available to all; with a relatively stable record of National Insurance contributions, the role of credit help agencies will diminish for retirement in Shake Weight future means-tested top-ups. The young and old alike should not assume that last week’s concessions to pensioners would lead to credit help agencies setting up affiliate marketing a system to reduce pressure on individuals for private savings for retirement.

In 2003 with the introduction of the new pension credit help there will be two types of state offerings to top up the basic state pension. The first is for minimum income like it is now, based on means testing. Smoke Assist Pension credit help is intended to ensure that no single person has an income lower than $100 a week in 2003 ($5,200 a year), and no couple with less than $154 a week ($8008 a year).

Without savings or private pensions Max Burn no individual would receive further state income except the other state credit help like housing benefit.

The new pension credit help will provide the second top-up for pensioners with savings. Despite this, no extra state money will be www.journalcon.com provided to those with incomes exceeding $135 a week ($7,020 a year). For couples, state assistance cut off level would be $201 a week, or $10,452.

Several pensioners in quest of credit help are now denied means-tested supplements to basic pensions due to modest private incomes. This www.militaryslides.com may be equivalent to one completely supported by the state without any savings.

Those qualifying for pensions credit help earn a credit of $0.60 on every $1 of savings. Pensioners will not have entitlement affected by the capital amount as the capital limits governing the current means testing will be abolished. Even the Government’s assumption of pensioners’ savings earning 20% interest will be discontinued. The credit help scheme under the government is yet to decide the basis of calculating pensioners’ income from savings.

The new pension credit help a single man with the basic state pension of $77, plus $20 from part time work earns $97 a week. This is topped by the government up to $100, as minimum income guarantee. An extra $12 from pension credit increases the total income to $112 a week.

For a single woman on the basic state pension of $23 a week from a former employer already has an income within the government’s $100 minimum income level. But her private pension would provide a top up at $13.80 a week. The new credit help system would still require pensioners to claim top ups to the basic state pension.

Prior to the introduction of the new system of credit help, pensioners will be helped through a series of substantial increases in basic state pension and minimum income guarantee.

Lady Gaga is amping up her fans for the Born This Way Ball, set to kick off later this year. On Tuesday, she dropped a sketch of her gothic castle-themed stage design, and in the very early hours of Wednesday morning (February 8), she teased fans with a poster for the trek.

The black-and-white poster, which includes touches of neon purple and turquoise, features an omniscient image of Gaga, decked out in her full “BTW” horned look, looking down from the sky. Underneath, in a castle that looks an awful lot like the one from the tour sketch, Gaga, wearing a piano dress, hangs with a group of suit-wearing dudes. And, for those paying close enough attention, Zombie Boy even makes an appearance, peeking out from one of the castle windows.

In her long-simmering latest “Yoü and I” fashion film, Gaga portrays her male alter ego, Jo Calderone. Jo smolders in the mini-film, smoking his way through it. Clips of Jo stripping (revealing Gaga’s taped-down chest) are intercut with shots of Gaga done up in an S&M-type outfit, dancing and tossing her long blond hair. The same outfit is worn by other dancers also featured in the clip, directed by Inez and Vinoodh.

Along with all these developments Little Monsters have to be excited about, this Sunday, Mother Monster is up for a number of Grammy Awards, including Album of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Album for Born This Way and Best Pop Solo Performance for “Yoü and I.”

It’s an interesting time for Chris Brown. With several career highs, which include a Grammy win and performance at the show earlier this month, come several personal lows, including feuds with two other celebrities.

On Tuesday, Brown took to Twitter to address some comments made by WWE wrestler CM Punk in a video he released on TMZ, which itself came in response to an ongoing Twitter feud the guys have been having.

“I’m a lifelong proud, drug-free, straight-edge individual, so Chris and I come from two completely different worlds,” Punk said in the video, referring to a previous tweet Brown had posted accusing Punk of taking steroids. “I don’t have a manager, I don’t have a bodyguard, I don’t have an assistant, I have no need for a PR team what to tweet or when to delete tweets, and I don’t hit women. Period. In my world women are to be revered and respected and I firmly believe that in this life there are consequences and repercussions for people’s actions, and I don’t think Chris has paid for what he’s done. Picking up trash on the side of a highway does not make amends for repeatedly striking a woman in her face and sending her to hospital.

“So if Chris wants to throw stones my way now, I say that’s fine. Let’s put some gloves out and get in the ring and I will choke you out and I will make you feel as weak and as powerless and scared and alone as any woman who has had the misfortune of knowing a sad, cowardly, little boy such as yourself. And all proceeds can go to a women’s shelter of my choosing … Chris Brown isn’t a man and that’s fine. I just know that someday, somewhere, somehow, somebody will put Chris Brown exactly where he belongs and that obviously doesn’t have to be me, I would just really like it to be.”

After the video was released, Brown responded, “@cmpunk the video u just posted was cute! It’s so funny how defensive u are. And the fact that I really don’t know who you are and could give a sh– is the funny part! I miss the real wrestlers! (Hacksaw Jim duggan, Brett the hitman heart, coco beware, rowdy roddy piper) #Notnopunks.”

Several tweets later, he brought it back to Punk, but noted that he would no longer be addressing the issue. “Note: today will be the last day I bring @cmpunk existence up! The confrontations that people continuously bring my way are very amusing,” he wrote. “Cuz honestly, that sh– is too time consuming to argue wit every person who has their own issues to deal with!”

It all started on February 20, when Punk tweeted about Brown’s 2009 assault of his then-girlfriend Rihanna. From there, the two became involved in a Twitter back-and-forth. Since Brown’s last tweet about the video, as of press time, Punk has not tweeted about it again.

This is hardly the first bit of criticism that Brown has received since his Grammy win on February 12. While a number of celebrities tweeted their criticisms of Brown’s win and performance that night, country star Miranda Lambert has been the most vocal about it.

Brown responded to her post-Grammy tweets, writing, “Using my name to get publicity? I love it! Perform your heart out! Go buy Miranda Lambert album! So motivational and ‘PERFECT’!”

Not only did she tweet about it, but in concert last week Usmagazine.com reported Lambert addressed the issue further, saying, “I just have to speak my mind, because where I come from, beating up on a woman is never OK. So that’s why my daddy taught me early on in life how to use a shotgun.”

The 54th annual Grammy Awards are just a day away and everyone in the MTV Newsroom is starting to get excited. Will Beyoncé” show up? How will Adele sound in her first major live performance since undergoing surgery to repair a vocal cord hemorrhage? What color will Katy Perry”‘s hair be? What will Lady Gaga” wear? We can’t wait to find out. But if last year’s show is any indication, it’s safe to say that just about anything could happen at Los Angeles’ Staples Center on Sunday night.

The quirk factor was high at last year’s Grammys, and it got started long before a single award was handed out. Lady Gaga’s red carpet arrival inside of a pearlescent egg carried by four scantily clad dudes wearing prosthetics on their faces and shoulders should have been reminder enough that the unusual is the norm at the Grammys. But in case it wasn’t, the show itself delivered Muppets and Katy Perry on a swing. We’ve rounded up five big moments from last year’s show to remind you why the Grammys are the craziest awards show of the year.

» Lady Gaga arrives in that freakin’ egg, er, “vessel.”
Never one to just casually stroll the red carpet in a pretty dress, Lady Gaga went to great lengths to make every element of her Grammy appearance part of a larger art piece that culminated in the performance of her then-new single “Born this Way.” It all started on the red carpet, when she arrived already inside her “vessel,” later claiming to Jay Leno that she’d been in a state of artistic incubation inside it for 72 hours. (Did you just roll your eyes? We think you just rolled your eyes!) The pop star emerged to deliver a full-voiced ? if otherwise joyless ? performance of the song, which at the time was drawing heavy criticism for sounding maybe a little too much like Madonna’s 1989 classic “Express Yourself,” and went on to score three Grammys, including Best Pop Vocal Album for The Fame Monster.

» Did Christina Aguilera fall down after that showstopping Aretha Franklin tribute?
Last year’s ceremony kicked off with an Aretha Franklin tribute featuring Christina Aguilera, Jennifer Hudson, Florence Welch, Martina McBride and Yolanda Adams. The ladies delivered a rousing group performance of “(You Make Me Feel Like a) Natural Woman” before launching into solos of “Ain’t No Way,” “Until You Come Back to Me,” “Think,” “Respect” and “Spirit in the Dark” and closing with “Sisters Are Doin’ It for Themselves” ? tearing the roof off the Staples Center. Except all anyone wanted to talk about afterward was how Christina maybe slipped a little in her towering heels.

The performance came just one week after Xtina botched “The Star-Spangled Banner” at Super Bowl XLV (luckily, Kelly Clarkson’s rendition this year went smoothly), and it seemed like the “Beautiful” singer and “Voice” judge had fully redeemed herself after the debacle, delivering a fantastic vocal performance … until she stumbled onstage, sending gossips into a tizzy that the singer may have been, we’ll say, out of sorts during the performance despite much evidence to the contrary. Or maybe people just like a good near-fall? People get very excited when an entertainer loses her footing ? don’t they, Madonna?

Anyway, while everyone tried to make Xtina’s mini-tumble a bigger story than it was, the ladies earned a richly deserved standing ovation for their tribute to Franklin, who was rather ill at the time but has since recovered, lost a bunch of weight, gotten engaged and ended that engagement. (A year in Hollywood time is like five years in normal person time … maybe that’s why everyone is so afraid of getting older!)

» Bieber performs big, loses Best New Artist to unknown jazz bassist and vocalist Esperanza Spalding.
Justin Bieber’s medley performance began with an acoustic strum through “Baby” but quickly segued into a raucous take on “Never Say Never,” complete with breakdancing ninja acrobats, fire breathers and a cameo rap by “Karate Kid” star Jaden Smith. Biebs’ mentor Usher even joined in on the fun for a pop-and-lock-heavy dance-off to his hit “OMG.”

But the real story with Bieber at last year’s Grammys was that he lost. To Esperanza Spalding. A critically acclaimed but otherwise unknown jazz performer. Bieber didn’t take the loss so well but his fans went even crazier, expressing the profound sadness they felt and bearing witness to their idol’s defeat by hacking Spalding’s Wikipedia page and changing her middle name to both “Justin” and “Quesadilla.” One fan wrote, “Justin Bieber deserved it go die in a hole. Who the heck are you anyway?” while another scribbled, “So the Esperanza Spalding has only 8 thousand followers on twitter and how many does Justin Bieber has?”

It seems someone forgot to tell the Belieber army that the Grammys are not a popularity contest (well, they’re not supposed to be, anyway) and that one’s amount of Twitter followers is not taken into account when deciding the winners. Duly noted!

» Katy Perry performed the ballad “Not Like the Movies” while on a swing, playing video from her wedding to Russell Brand.
If you needed further proof that a lot can change in just a single year, look no further than Katy Perry’s performance at last year’s ceremony. Much like she did on her California Dreams Tour, Perry performed her ballad “Not Like the Movies” while sitting on a swing as video from her elaborate October 2010 wedding to Russell Brand was projected behind her.

Though one would think a sweet performance like Katy’s would shut the gossip mill down for at least a little while, the couple was already back to defending their strange union less than two months later when Brand co-hosted “Live!” with Kelly Ripa. By year’s end, Perry and Brand’s marriage was officially no more, and it made re-watching her performance from last year for the purposes of this article, um, kind of awkward.

» Cee Lo performed “Forget You” with a bunch of Muppets (and Gwyneth Paltrow).
No, no one at your Grammy party spiked your drink. Cee Lo Green, wearing a crazy red bear suit and a rainbow fan of feathers (think peacock), really did perform his Grammy-nominated smash “Forget You” backed by a bunch of singing and dancing Muppets while Oscar-winning home health guru Gwyneth Paltrow writhed atop his piano. Oddly, the whole thing worked like gangbusters and was a big old ball of fun. (And when was the last time anyone associated the word “fun” with Gwyneth Paltrow? Such is the funky power of Cee Lo.)

This year’s show has the potential to outdo last year’s in the water-cooler department with Rihanna and Chris Brown both set to perform under the same roof for the first time since, well, you know … in addition to plenty of interesting collabos, including a special electronic dance music performance set to feature the Foo Fighters (right?), and whatever Lady Gaga decides to get into.

What are you most looking forward to at this year’s Grammys? Let us know in the comments below.

Stringer Bell. John Luther. Heimdall. Add Moreau to the mix, and you’re looking at some of “Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance” actor Idris Elba’s most recognizable roles to date. But the British actor is more than just a pretty face on the big screen. Indeed, Elba’s true passion may very well lie in the realm of fitness instruction… particularly when it involves whipping journalists into superhero shape.

Elba did exactly that in the latest edition of After Hours, turning MTV Movies reporter Josh Horowitz into… well, we don’t want to spoil the surprise. Exercise your own capacity for fitness in this instructional video with Elba and Horowitz below.

Chaos! Profanity! Wardrobe malfunctions! Don’t miss Sway and James Montgomery live from the Grammys red carpet this Sunday, February 12, for a full three hours of mayhem, starting at 5 p.m. ET on MTV.com.

Paul Rudd and MTV News’ Josh Horowitz have been known to find themselves in odd situations whenever they meet up.

Back in 2008 when Rudd was promoting his then-upcoming film “Role Models,” the pair went out to Dave & Buster’s. Needless to say, the interview ended with Rudd and Horowitz inside a gigantic claw game machine.

Now the two will meet for MTV First, but this time Jennifer Aniston is coming along to join the fun. It all begins on Wednesday, February 22 at 7:56 p.m. on MTV. The stars of the upcoming film “Wanderlust” will present a never-before-seen clip from the movie.

Immediately afterward, Rudd and Aniston will take questions from the fans on MTV.com. All you have to do to get your question in the running is submit it through MTV.com or via Twitter using @MTVNews and the hashtag #AskWanderlust.

What’s going to happen when everyone gets together for another interview? It’s impossible to say, knowing what kind of trouble they’ve gotten into before, but you’ll have to tune into MTV on February 22 to find out and see if your question gets answered.

What did you think of the classic Paul Rudd interview? Let us know in the comments below and on Twitter!

Nine films are nominated for Best Picture at the Academy Awards this year, begging the question: who deserved a tenth spot on that list? Oscars 2012: 10 Spot answers that question, as the MTV Movies team highlights some of 2011′s greatest films and argues why they deserved a nod as the tenth Best Picture nominee.

Let?s get this out of the way right now: Yes, ?Shame? is indeed The One With The Penis ? Michael Fassbender?s, to be precise. That said, it would be a shame (no pun intended) if that?s all this extraordinary film is remembered for. For some insight into why ?Shame? wasn?t nominated for a Best Picture Oscar, we should discuss what this movie is not:

» It?s not a family film (see above re: The One With The Penis). This movie is one hundred percent adult-oriented. There are no brave horses, charming pups or precocious kids in ?Shame.? There are only grown-ups doing very grown-up things.

» It?s not populated by likeable characters. The siblings played by Fassbender and Carey Mulligan are two seriously damaged, dysfunctional people who sometimes behave horribly to each other. No heroes or heroines, no hearts of gold ? just people in pain who are trying to get through the day.

» It?s not a period piece. ?Shame? takes place in the here (New York City) and now. The city is not romanticized or sanitized; it?s depicted as a real place where real people live in the 21st century, dealing with real issues.

» It?s not an easy film to watch. Sure, there?s a lot of flesh on display, but the sex scenes are not what you?d call ?sexy.? Fassbender?s Brandon is a sex addict. There?s no love or affection given or taken in these scenes. And there?s also some pretty gruesome, heartbreaking stuff courtesy of Mulligan?s Sissy. Fascinating and engaging, yes. Sweet and uplifting? Definitely not.

In short, “Shame” is not Oscar bait. Steve McQueen?s drama is unconventional, raw, risky and current. In an ideal cinematic universe these qualities would be recognized and rewarded. Alas, Oscar doesn?t live in that universe quite yet. Maybe one day they?ll get it right.

The MTV Movies team has the 2012 Oscars covered! Stick with us for everything you need to know leading up to the awards show, and on Sunday, February 25, tune into MTV.com at 5:30 p.m. ET for our three-hour red-carpet live stream and updates on the night’s big winners.

It’s sort of hard to figure out what Peter Berg’s angle is. The same guy who directed the original superhero flick “Hancock” also gave us the wonderful teen TV drama and movie “Friday Night Lights.” He also gave us serious thrillers like “The Kingdom.” His latest film “Battleship” — a blockbuster adaptation of the classic game — also seems at first to come out of left field, but Berg promised MTV News that his involvement in the veritable “Transformers”-meets-”Armageddon” blockbuster actually makes sense.

Turns out that this type of film has been a cause close to his heart for a while now. Even though Berg has directed a variety of movies, he’s always wanted to do one set in the ocean, and “Battleship” gave him the opportunity to do that.

“I’ve been trying to do a movie set in the water for a long time. My dad was a naval historian, he used to drag me to every Navy museum in the world, anywhere we could go,” Berg told MTV News at Toy Fair. “I’ve always wanted to do a movie about the Navy.”

But it was more than that. Berg said that he also has always wanted to do a big movie, something even bigger than “Hancock.” Berg felt that it was his time to do a summer blockbuster, and that “Battleship” was the film to do it with.

“I call these movies, they’re like kind of ‘super’ movies now and they go out all around the world. Movies like ‘Transformers,’ ‘G.I. Joe,’ ‘Battleship;’ these films have such big reach. For me it made sense,” Berg said. “Now to actually see all this kind of cross-marketing and see with the Hasbro machine kicking in, it’s kind of awesome.”

Is “Battleship” a movie you’re looking forward to? Tell us in the comments section below or on Twitter!

Late night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel is pulling out all the stops for his post-Oscars special, airing on January 26. So far he?s managed to book the one and only Oprah Winfrey, among a sea of many other A-listers set to stop by.

Jessica Biel, Jason Bateman, JJ Abrams, Steven Tyler, Tyler Perry, Edward Norton, Colin Farrell and Ryan Philippe have all been confirmed, People.com reports. The annual post-show fete, ?Jimmy Kimmel Live: After the Academy Awards,? will also include appearances from Meryl Streep, George Clooney and Martin Scorsese, as well as a performance from Coldplay, EW.com adds. Oscar host Billy Crystal will also make an appearance.

Given that the show has launched such viral smashes like “F*@#ing Ben Affleck,” “Handsome Men’s Club,” “Hottie Body Hump Club” and “Tom Hanks’s Toddlers in Tiaras,? shenanigans are expected and given the caliber of talent Mr. Kimmel has booked for the bash (which will air on ABC immediately after news which will air immediately after the Academy Awards next Sunday), we expect them to go hard or go home.

Kimmel recently tweeted that he expects ?This yr should be the best yet,? and Vulture blog got their hands on some funny posters spoofs that tease what might happen during the show this year.

Posters featuring gun and weapon-wielding Helen Mirren, Clooney and Tom Hanks tease the spoof ?M:TM,? aka ?Movie: The Movie.? While little is known about the plot of the action film, it will also include Charlize Theron, Don Cheadle, John Krasinski, Emily Blunt, Cameron Diaz, and Samuel L. Jackson.
